Notice

All visitors to a Correctional Facility must clear a metal detector. Please be mindful of clothing that may contain metals as it may result in the inability to clear. In the event that a visitor is unable to clear the metal detector, their visit may be denied.

Contraband ~ Criminal Violations

Pursuant to Maryland's Criminal Law Article, Sections 9-410 and 9-412 through 9-417, it is unlawful for a person to possess, deliver, or possess with intent to deliver contraband in a place of confinement. Such items include but are not limited to telecommunication devices, contraband to effect an escape, weapons of any type, alcoholic beverages, controlled dangerous substances, and tobacco.

It is unlawful for a person to deposit or conceal a telecommunication device in or about a place of confinement with the intent that it be obtained by a person detained or confined.

Violators are subject to arrest and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Upon conviction, violators are subject to imprisonment from periods of 3 to 10 years, fines of $1,000 to $5,000, or both.

Directions

The facility is located on House of Corrections Road in Jessup, MD 20794. Entering from Route 175 bear left at the 1st and 2nd fork in the road and the institution will be on the right. Drive straight down to the end of the road that leads to visitor parking.

Visting Hours

Saturday and Sunday- 9:00am-12:45pm and 5:00pm-7:30pm.

Monday and Friday- 9:00am-12:45pm and 5:00pm-7:30pm.

There are video visits on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there are no visits on the 31 st of the month.

Visit Registration starts (1) one hour prior to the start of the visits.

Visit Registration ends at 8:00pm.

Frequency of Visits:

Visits will be permitted on an odd/even schedule with one (1) visit per day. The last digit of the incarcerated individual's SID# will determine the day an incarcerated individual may receive visit. If the last digit is even the incarcerated individual will have visits on even dates throughout the year. If the last digit of the incarcerated individual's SID# is odd he will have visits on odd dates. (i.e. SID# 542971 are permitted visits on the corresponding odd dates Jan-Dec 1,15, 27)

Note:General Population and Administrative Segregation Visits are (1) one hour. Disciplinary Segregation visit are (1) hour; once every 7 days. The facility shall not permit extra time visits on the weekends or holidays. Incarcerated individual visits may not be conducted during emergency conditions or exigent circumstances.

On Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday the registration will stop from 1:15pm to 4:00pm. Visitors will be required to wait outside the gate. Visitation will resume at 5:00pm. Visitors already in the visiting room at the time will be allowed to continue with their visit until the allotted time is complete.

Identification Requirements & Search Procedures

A visitor 16 years of age and older shall present a valid photograph ID. "Photograph Identification" means a card bearing the holders name, date of birth, address, and photograph that has been issued by a government agency, that is, driver's license or other state or federal identification card. Visitors are required to be frisked searched and fingerprint scanned upon entering the institution. No visitor will be given clearance to enter if they cannot clear the metal detector and/or the fingerprint process. It is the responsibility of the visitor to seek permission to enter from the warden's office if they cannot clear the entry process.

Visiting Room Rules

• Visitor badges must be visibly worn by the visitor at all times.
• Each visitor must be seated on the visitor side of the table at all times.
• For the safety and security of your child, children shall not be seated on any table and must be supervised by the adult visitor for the duration of the visit.
• Nothing shall be passed between the visitor and incarcerated individual.
• Disrespect toward any employee, visitor, or incarcerated individual shall not be tolerated
• The use of vulgar and abusive and or threating language shall not be tolerated
• Any illegal or immoral acts shall be subject to criminal and/or administrative action.
• Hands must remain on the table in plain sight. Failure to do so will result in immediate termination of visit.

Special Visit Requirements

Special visits may be granted, at the discretion of the warden, to persons whose names are not on the visiting list when special circumstances exist or extended to visitors where travel one way exceeds 200 miles. Arrangements should be made at least (5) five business days in advance of the intended visiting date and time by the visitor contacting the warden's office and a written request from the incarcerated individual. Special visits are only granted once per month.

There are (7) seven visitation sessions with (10) slots per session. Each Incarcerated person is allotted 2 adults and 2 children per visit.

Transportation

Van services may be listed on the incarcerated individual bulletin board as means of transportation into the institution for visitors; however there are no public transportation routes available in this area.
