The Life For Lifers inmate group at Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown is looking for rise several thousands dollars this Saturday during a walk-a-thon inside the prison yard.

Inmates have paid $5 a piece to participate in the Walk-a-thon for Peace planned to coincide with the nation's remembrance of the attacks on 9-11.

Outside citizens, inspired by the event have already pledged an additional $3,000.

All money raised will go to a non-profit mediation organization that has partnered with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services in promoting calm and peaceful dispute resolution and re-entry problem solving for the inmates.
