HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ― Forty-two incarcerated veterans are marking National POW-MIA Recognition Day at a state prison near Hagerstown.
The state Division of Correction says the solemn outdoor ceremony was set for noon Friday at the Roxbury Correctional Institution.
An agency spokesman says the Roxbury inmates comprise one of five incarcerated veterans groups in the state prison system.
POW-MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday of September to remind the nation of the sacrifices made by prisoners of war, service members declared missing in action and their families.
