Mt. Auburn is the oldest owned and operated African American cemetery in Baltimore City.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) , Mayor Rawlings-Blake, Mt. Auburn Cemetery, United Methodist Church, Morgan State University, and Abell Foundation gathered for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the restoration of one of Baltimore's historic landmarks.

DPSCS began working at the grounds four years ago under the Public Safety Works initiative, giving pre-release offenders the chance to give back to society while helping to clear nearly 40 acres of overgrown brush and trees.
