Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown to Speak
At DPSCS Correctional Academy Graduation

TOWSON, MD (February 6, 2013) ---Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony Brown will be the keynote speaker this Friday, February 8 at the Correctional Entry Level Training Program graduation in Sykesville. The Academy is run by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions, a unit within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS).
Eighteen men and women will join the Public Safety team; they will be deployed to eight State correctional facilities in the Baltimore, Jessup, and Sykesville areas. Two additional men will become correctional officers at Montgomery County-operated facilities.
DPSCS completely revised - and significantly lengthened - the Academy and its curriculum last year in an effort to turn out better prepared, more professional officers. The first class graduated in August of 2012.
