Restorative Justice Helps Restore American History
Antietam National Battlefield News Conference at Bloody Lane Thursday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m
Members of the media are invited to attend a pre-Independence Day event that highlights an ongoing effort of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to give offenders restorative justice opportunities through public works projects. Maryland Correctional Enterprises, the industry arm of the Maryland Division of Correction, will update attendees on an innovative partnership with the National Park Service that is restoring a critical piece of American history, while also teaching workers “green” job skills. It involves restoration of a specific site that existed during the bloodiest single-day battle ever on American soil.
