Towson, MD (June 30, 2010)---Caroline County Habitat for Humanity will honor the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) on Friday for its unique inmate labor partnership that has resulted in five completed homes and several others under construction in Federalsburg.

DPSCS Secretary Gary Maynard and Division of Correction leaders, local, regional, and state elected officials, and inmates (who will be working that day) will join Habitat for Humanity for the news event.

Members of the media will see inmates at work; meet a family who just moved into a completed house; and hear about one of the most unique correctional labor projects in the nation.

Directions From Baltimore:

  • U.S. 50 to Md. 404 east
  • Proceed past Denton to Rt. 313 south and turn right
  • 9.9 miles to Bloomingdale and turn left
  • Bear right and go into town to the light; turn left onto Central
  • Make first left after Md. Plastics plant onto Gerardi
  • Proceed two blocks to the site
