Towson, MD (August 2, 2011)--- As always, the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation will have agents in attendance at a number of National Night Out activities on the evening of Tuesday, August 2.

National Night Out is a community event designed to heighten crime and drug awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

National Night Out sends a message to criminals letting them know that the neighborhoods are organized and committed to preventing crime.

Agents from Parole and Probation offices across the state will be involved in Hampstead, Baltimore, Reisterstown, Eastern Shore, and Hagerstown National Night Out events.

Representatives from the Maryland Community Crime Prevention Institute (MCCPI), another DPSCS agency, will participate in the Eldersburg area event at the Carrolltown Center. MCCPI is a full-time crime prevention agency that includes the Maryland D.A.R.E. and McGruff programs.

Maryland Parole and Probation agents supervise more than 66,000 people in all corners of the state, helping offenders remain focused to remain out of prison and be successful in society.
