NBCI Dedicates Memorial to Public Safety Personnel
TOWSON, MD (November 7, 2011) – “All Gave Some, Some Gave All,” reads the brand-new memorial wall outside North Branch Correctional Institution (NBCI) at the state prison complex near Cumberland, MD.
Warden Bobby Shearin wanted a tangible reminder of those who have served not only in the military, but in law enforcement, fire and rescue services and corrections. The wall, built by the NBCI Maintenance Department, will be dedicated during a ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.
Media is invited. Please RSVP to Mark Vernarelli or Erin Julius, listed on attached.
The memorial was built using bricks salvaged from the Baltimore Coliseum and cleaned by an inmate crew as part of Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services’ Public Safety Works (PSW) program. PSW projects give offenders the opportunity to give back to society while learning job skills prior to release. The bricks have been offered to local towns for inmate-built gateway signage across the state.
The NBCI-WCI Honor Guard will present flags, and the ceremony will also include bagpiper and trumpets playing Taps.
