CAPTURED- Inmate Erroneously Released from Maryland Correctional Institution for Women Taken Into Custody
Inmate Sierra Scipioni was taken into custody this morning, December 20, 2013, in South East Baltimore by DPSCS enforcement team without incident.
TOWSON, MD (December 19, 2013) – Police are searching for an inmate after she was mistakenly released from Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCI-W) in Jessup on December 3, 2013.
Inmate Sierra Scipioni, began serving a 18-month sentence for first-degree burglary in June of 2012. She also began concurrently serving a six-month sentence for a theft conviction of 10 years with all but six months suspended, plus two years of supervised probation.
Scipioni was paroled in March 2013 after serving almost eight months on the first-degree burglary conviction. She was returned on October of this year for a violation of probation. She was then released on December 3, 2013 upon expiration of that sentence.
On 11/20/13 Scipioni was sentenced by the Harford County Circuit Court to an additional two years for a violation of probation on the June 2012 theft conviction. Due to a paperwork error in the DPSCS Commitment Office, the new sentence was not recorded in the offender database and she was released.
A warrant has been issued and police continue their search. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Sierra Scipioni please call your local police.
