Child Protective Services Crime Solvers Grief Support Network Serves: Frederick, Garrett & Washington Counties. Free support service for families of homicides in western Maryland. Offers emotional support, support groups, one on one contact. Attends trials with family and directs them to legal resources. Heartly House, Inc. Provides services for victims of domestic violence and rape; provides short term shelter; individual and group counseling and therapy; support groups; batterers group; counseling for children; also legal advocacy and court accompaniment. Juvenile Services, Department of Provides case status information and monitors collections and disbursement of restitution in juvenile cases. the intake process, informal supervision and probation. Open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Karma Academy for Boys Provides residential and day care treatment for boys 13-18 who are emotionally disturbed, sexually or physically abused, or "out of parental control." Provides group family counseling and group psychotherapy, confrontation groups, chemical dependency groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Provides legal advice and counsel to qualifying low income people in civil matters only. Also provides information and referral to other services. Open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for intake. National Organization for Victim Assistance (Nova) This organization can be reached 24 hours a day. Volunteer crisis counselors/intervenors can assist any victim or witness of major crime or crisis at no cost via one-on-one crisis intervention or group crisis intervention sessions.
