[HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND] - The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) reaffirms its unwavering commitment to facilitating connections between incarcerated individuals and their families. At the Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) in Hagerstown, a unique partnership is making a profound impact in this endeavor.
MCTC, a medium-security facility, has forged a valuable collaboration with BookSavers.org to launch "The Storybook Project." This innovative initiative empowers incarcerated men to record themselves reading books to their children and school-aged loved ones, along with sending the book and recording home.
DPSCS extends its heartfelt gratitude to Michele Meager, the Volunteer Activity Coordinator at MCTC, for her exemplary leadership and dedication in spearheading this meaningful project.
This partnership underscores DPSCS's ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for incarcerated individuals to maintain essential connections with their families, ultimately contributing to successful reentry and rehabilitation.
