Looking to Volunteer within DPSCS?

Volunteers at Public Safety bring a variety of skills to our offenders - they teach yoga, parenting skills, help prepare those on their way home for their job search - but there is one thing they all have in common: a dedication to improving the lives of others.

It is this dedication that allows us to offer an impressive breadth of programs aimed at reducing recidivism for our offenders, the majority of whom will be returning to our communities once they have served their time in our jails and prisons.

Volunteers supplement our amazing staff from the moment offenders enter the pre-trial system, through the duration of their sentences, and even once they have returned to the communities under the supervision of parole or probation agents. Volunteers help give offenders the tools they need to become law-abiding, productive citizens, thereby contributing to the safety of Maryland.

Volunteers also work in administrative areas of the Department, such as finance, procurement and statistical analysis, and the Victims Services Unit.
